Case Studies
The following are just a few diverse examples of how Logical Developers has approached development projects in a variety of industries:
Fully Optimized E-Commerce Site
CASE: AppetizersToGo.com, a purveyor of gourmet frozen appetizers, needed to construct a sophisticated e-commerce Web site that was replete with features and automation.
SOLUTION:Logical Developers worked with their graphic designer and produced solution that included everything from content management to product management to shipping integration to credit card validation to Google Adwords optimization and analysis - a complete end-to-end solution that minimized the need for human involvement in any business process that could be remotely automated.
Music Licensing Site with Online Music Library
CASE: ARC Music Group, the music licensing company whose catalog includes some of the greatest rock and roll legends the world has seen, asked Logical Developers to create a stylish Web site that could tap their enourmous database of music and artists.
SOLUTION: Logical Developers created a Web site and extensive content management system that serves as an online music library. Visitors can search for music using a number of criteria, listen to music samples and start the licensing process quickly and easily.
Investor Document Dissemination Web Site
CASE: Empire Capital Partners, a hedge fund, found that keeping portfolio information flowing to their investors was becoming increasingly difficult as the number of their investors grew.
SOLUTION: Logical Developers created a document management system that allowed Empire Capital to effortlessly post their investors' portfolio information to a secure Web site to which the investors where given access.
Medical Consulting Site and Branding
CASE: Executive Resources, a medical consulting firm, needed to construct a Web site and branding that would aid in their marketing push.
SOLUTION: Logical Developers created the branding and Web site they needed. Armed with an extensive content management system, Executive resources was able to engage in landing page customization and other means of creating a successful online marketing campaign.
Server Software for 4-Panel Multimedia Ad Display
CASE: Hoashi Communications, a New York based design and advertising firm, wanted to develop a means of displaying advertisements on a display wall consisting of four monitors. The system would require the ability to upload new advertisements securely and easily.
SOLUTION: Logical Developers created a Display Wall server software that allows one Windows-based computer to display advertisements across four monitors. The software is controlled by a back-end Web application that allows video, HTML or flash advertisements to be uploaded from anywhere in the world via the Internet. Custom playlists can be created and modified online and the Display Wall interface was created to be so simple to use, any authorized non-technical staff member could use it.
Intranet Database System Automates Management of Employee Benefits
CASE: Teamsters Local 805, a union local that manages the pensions and benefits of its members, required a HIPPA compliant application to manage their members' information.
SOLUTION: Logical Developers created a Web-based database system that allowed them to enter all the information which previously had been stored on index cards. The system allows for a variety of reports to be generated and was configured to send out monthly data extracts to Aetna Health insurance. The application also manages employer contributions to the union's pension and welfare funds.
Custom Database Integrates Multiple Online Services
CASE: National Development and Research Institutes (NDRI), a non-profit organization specializing in research and education, were unhappy at the lack of interoperability between their Web site and their Microsoft Access-based training application and database that tracked student enrollment and sent data to the New York State Department of Health on a monthly basis.
SOLUTION: Logical Developers started by redesigning NDRI's Web site and then, using the Microsoft Access application and database as a guide, we migrated the data to a database server and created a Web-based application that would allow any number of authorized users to simultaneously enter, edit, extract and report on the data. We then extended the Web site to allow students to register for classes online thereby alleviating the requirement for manual data entry. The application generates a data extract on a monthly basis that is then delivered to the New York State Department of Health.
A Customized Content Management System to Ease Workflow
CASE: Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., a national financial services company, needed to publish its financial research to their own private Web site as well as to third-party publishers such as Thomson First Call, Bloomberg and Reuters. The research reports would need to be published several times a day, the interface needed to be easy to use and an approval process needed to be put in place in order to avoid errors.
SOLUTION: Logical Developers put a content management system in place that allowed non-technical users to publish research reports to their Web site. Those reports were then instantly converted to each of the third-party publishers' native file formats and securely "pushed" to their respective systems.
CMS Solution Lets Private Investment Group Be Managed Remotely
CASE: TIGER 21, the peer-to-peer investment group for high net worth investors needed to put up a Web site that would also allow their members to have secure access to private forums, calendars, articles, media and presentation information. TIGER 21 also required a content management solution that would allow its staff members to quickly and easily post new information to the site.
SOLUTION: Logical Developers created a Web site that reflected their company image and provided TIGER 21 staff members with a hosted content management solution that allows staff members to manage calendar events, control automated email meeting notifications to its members and control all aspects of content from a secure content management Web site.
